It's completely redesigned the hybrid tablet and smartphone device to reduce the overall thickness and weight taking the big 10.1-inch tablet and 4.7-inch smartphone down to 649g from 853g. The handset is now heavier at 135g but at 9mm thick is a little slender, but not quite in the realms of the iPhone 5.

Acer has realised Iconia Tab A110 features. This tablet has 7-inch 1024 x 600 display with 16-M color and 170ppi, an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage, all running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The screen may look short to the Nexus 7, but Acer has seen fit to include a micro SD card slot for up to 32GB of additional storage. The usual radios are on board too, including Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0, with ports including Micro USB and Micro HDMI. Also 2-megapixel front-facing camera, meanwhile, handles video-calling duties. Acer says battery life on the tablet should be good for up to seven and a half hours.

The Microsoft Surface RT version comes with a 10.6-inch screen and a 1,280 x 720 resolution. We thing this device runs only Wi-Fi. Surface for Windows 8 Pro is expected to launch after the Windows RT version and will come with a "full HD" 1080p screen resolution.
