Sony CEO says Vita gaming device performs near expectations

Chief Executive Kazuo Hirai signalled on Thursday some softness in sales of new gaming device Vita, but said overall it performed near expectations.Vita hit the stores earlier this year and is the latest in a long line of mobile gaming gadgets in the spirit of Nintendo's Game Boy and Atari's Lynx.The device has met scepticism among some analysts who doubt whether there is a place for such a device in a market which is increasingly dominated by games played on smartphones and tablets. "Worldwide, the Vita is pretty much along where we would expect it to be, maybe trending behind in certain territories,"
 Hirai told Reuters on the sidelines of IFA, Europe's biggest consumer trade show, held in Berlin. He declined to disclose where sales were lagging. Taking the helm at Sony in April, Hirai vowed to revive the fortunes of the maker of the Walkman music player, after years of competition from foreign rivals overturned its dominance in consumer electronics. Hirai said the group was ahead of plan in turning its loss-making TV business into the black. He has announced cost cuts, including slashing 10,000 jobs, and plans to sell off some business. Hirai said it was already in talks with several potential buyers for its chemicals business, which makes material used in its consumer electronic products and employs several thousands of staff. He declined to elaborate.

Samsung Galaxy Windows Phone 8 smartphone to be unveiled today

However, it has just emerged courtesy of a Tweet from PC Mag tech writer, that Samsung could also spring a major surprise on us by also using the event to debut a handset running the latest version of the rival Windows Phone platform. Assuming the speculation and his source is correct, it would be something of a surprise – to say the least. Given Nokia’s close financial relationship with Nokia, it had been assumed that the Finnish phone-maker would be the first company to bring a Windows 8 handset to market. LG has officially announced its latest flagship smartphone, the Optimus G, featuring some rather impressive specs that could finally give the phone-maker its place among the stars.

Nokia to unveil two new Windows Phone 8 handsets next month

Nokia will imminently announce a brace of Windows Phone 8 handsets, sources abreast of matters have revealed.

Nokia is planning to unveil two new Windows Phone 8 devices at a joint event with Microsoft on September 5th. According to The Verge, Nokia will officially announce two new additions to its Lumia range, codenamed ‘Arrow’ and ‘Phi’, when it takes the stage with Microsoft at a joint event in New York on September 5th.

Dell’s First Windows 8 Tablet In 2012 Features and Specification

In late 2012, Dell is planning to release their first Windows 8 tablet.With Windows 8, for the first time in all its history, Microsoft has made bold changes to the Windows desktop OS to make it more touch friendly for touchscreen equipped computers like tablet PC’s. Microsoft’s changes to the Windows recipe have resulted in what is being called Metro UI.
