Samsung Series 9 900X3B Review and Specification

The 2nd-generation Samsung Series 9 13.3-inch notebook is one of the best thinnest, lightest, and most elegantly designed notebooks you’ll find. It’s an awesome half-inch thick and has been updated with a sandblasted aluminum finish (forget about scratches and fingerprints) and has a 1600 x 900 resolution display that delivers amazing vibrancy and sharpness with wide viewing angles

Design

The Samsung Series 9 900X3B intrigues onlookers, moreover the actual appreciation is saved for when it’s picked up. The Series 9 appraise simply 1.2kg. That is additionally the ethos that has pushed the Samsung Series 9′s design. When closed, the laptop computer is naturally 14mm thick, and sits like a folded piece of paper on the desk.

Display

The Series 9’s screen to be outstanding, and with a 1600×900 resolution at 13 inches, it’s surely one of the best lusterless displays you’ll find. By dispensing with the visually enhancing glossy TFT coating, it won’t be provided ineffective in direct sunlight, but remains pin sharp and super brilliant. All videos looked great, with vibrant colours, although blacks weren’t as dim as other dedicated media laptops. We’d suggest it for anyone who travels a lot, or just likes to catch up with TV shows in bed.

Performance

The Samsung Series 9 differs mixed results in our lab tests. The processor tests showed the authority of the Intel Core i5 processor, and it stands shoulder to shoulder with bigger, uglier Ultrabooks. You can effortlessly edit pictures and multitask your favorite programs devoid of testing the limits of the chip. Moreover, the graphic benchmarks show how much has been sacrificed in the name of size. There’s sufficient power on-board to keep a HD movie smooth and flawlessly, and use programs like Photoshop Elements if you don’t want to get too technical.

Hardware

Internal Samsung Series 9 NP900X3B-A01US is a 2nd-generation Intel Core i5 processor with 1.6 GHz clock speed. The Turbo Boost Technology accelerates ultrabook’s performance by intuitively allocating CPU processing power when you need it the most. Its combination with 4GB of SODIMM RAM delivers optimized power management for editing and compressing large-size photos or HD video, or multi-tasking. If that’s not satisfying you, the memory is upgradeable up to 8GB. When it comes to storage, the Samsung Series 9 NP900X3B-A01US is equipped with 128GB SSD hard drive that works less noise even under full load and saving power consumption as well. Unfortunately, Samsung installing Intel® HD Graphics 3000 instead nVidia or ATi chip. This could be a drawback for some users especially gamers.

Connectivity

The power of networking is most important, but with the new Series 9 it’s all about connections. The Series 9 is equipped with a full line of ports for ultimate connectivity, even a full size, masterfully designed SD card slot. And to keep you plugged into what’s next, it also features micro HDMI and both mini Ethernet and VGA connectors that are ready to go with an adapter dongle. Connect your world in every bit of it.

Battery life

It such a transportable laptop, battery life is essential, but this fell short of our expectations when tested in our labs. We use a highly demanding testing course of that includes looping HD video and performing an automated writing task until the battery dies. The Samsung Series 9 900X3B lasted 172 minutes – slightly under three hours – which equates to 5 hours of sunshine use.
